Check Out The Points Tracker!

Hello Sprint Slow Friends!

Here we are, it’s January 2024 and looky looky! You’ve opened your email to find this gem in your inbox! How exciting! We think so 😀

That is because over here under our roof, we thought why not create an email to send out to our 4 subscribers (Thanks Mom and Dad)! 🙌
So, here is our vision- it will be a twice a month newsletter to share the things we spend our time on- accumulating points, booking travel, and well, living life in between. It will include:

  • Our current points tracker (yikes, how revealing!)
  • Travel tips from Allie (she gives the goods)
  • Something we are working on, reading or listening to!
  • What we have in the works- upcoming trips, credit card applications, deals and more

And that labor of love is the creation of our newsletter, Travel, Points, and Life -keeping you up to date on our happenings as well as (hopefully) inspiring and educating you on ways to make travel a part of your life! Travel hacking sounds like a big, complicated, scary and even fake venture. I get that. It wasn’t until I flew in $15,000 business class airline seats to Asia that I convinced myself that it was in fact real and doable.

THE POINTS TRACKER

This feels a little vulnerable…but we are 40 years old, sending out a travel newsletter…so who really gives a flying fruit. We’re going to keep a running count of points as we accumulate and spend- earn and burn as they say in the industry 😉Always remember, points are relative. Some accumulate millions in a year while others are looking to cover 1 or 2 trips a year. I’ll give you the nuts and bolts — your goals will determine what moves you make.

Our points tracker should give you an idea of what is possible. We are not doing anything tricky or risky. This is all about showing you how to travel for less!

👆Some big plans are brewing on burning lots of our beloved Chase and Aeroplan points soon because we are eyeing some summer plans-  but more on that when we pull the trigger in the next couple weeks!

TT (Travel Tip): But first-“Travel hacking” aka, using credit card miles and points to “buy” flights, hotel stays, travel experiences and more!  We also like to think of it as thoughtful ways of saving money without necessarily the use of CC points- just some tips we’ve picked up along the way.

My tip this week: Travel hack 101

Step 1 – Apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card – CHASE CARD (This is a referral link. Thanks in advance if you decide to use it!) This card will give you 60,000 points when you spend $4,000 in 3 months (think regular expenses!- gas, groceries, amazon). It is the best beginner (and veteran) travel credit card 😉

Step 2 – Transfer those 60,000 points to Virgin Air and book 2 round trip tickets to Amsterdam.

Step 3 – Think of us and enjoy your vacation! vacation 🥂

You will still have 12,000 points leftover for your next trip. This is the most basic level of travel hacking. It couldn’t be more simple!

Always do what you are afraid to do.
